Supervisory Signal Devices Checklist

A supervisory signal device is a component of a fire alarm system that monitors the status of other installed components. Examples include valve supervisory switches, low air pressure switches in dry pipe sprinkler systems, and pump running condition monitors. If one of the components is not in normal operating mode, the supervisory signal device alerts the fire alarm control panel. The control panel typically activates a supervisory alarm signal to indicate issues that won’t prevent the fire protection system from operating, but still require attention. Supervising devices allow early detection and diagnosis of faults, keeping fire protection equipment at peak readiness. Prompt repair also prevents future failures that could impair critical system operation during an emergency.
